Chilled Water Plant

The Chilled Water Plant employs a closed-loop, chilled-water system to manage the air temperature in permanent buildings with significantly less energy use and to provide low-cost cooling to the West campus during non-peak demand hours. The total plant chiller capacity is 3,000 tons with 2,000 tons of plate and frame capacity, and over 2.25 million gallons of thermal storage capacity. The central plant system utilizes state-of-the-art controls to reduce pumping and fan horsepower consumption by 50 percent, reducing utility use and improving cost efficiency for the campus.
