Founding Editor
Patricia Murphy
Patricia Colleen Murphy teaches poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction at Arizona State University at the Polytechnic campus. Her writing has appeared in many literary journals, including The Iowa Review, Quarterly West, and American Poetry Review. She has received awards from the Associated Writing Programs and the Academy of American Poets, Glimmer Train Press, The GSU Review, and The Southern California Review. Faculty Advisors
Steve Beatty
After a ten-year career in marketing with Xerox and Apple Computer, Steve Beatty returned to college and earned an MFA and PhD from Arizona State University. He has published short stories and film reviews. He teaches film courses at ASU's Polytechnic Campus and is currently working on a screenplay (isn't everyone) and a non-fiction book about one of his passions--basketball.
Kristin Lacroix
K. Ursula LaCroix lives in Florence, Arizona and is a lecturer in imaginative writing at Arizona State University's Polytechnic campus. She is the recipient of the 2001 Katherine C. Turner Award in Poetry from the Academy of American Poets. Her community outreach projects include working with Alzheimer's patients through poetry, teaching in the Tempe Community Writers' Project, and running writing groups in fiction and poetry at the Southeast Regional Library. She worked as an Education Specialist on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Reservation where she taught creative writing workshops and led the community children in producing a literary journal of their poems, stories, and artwork. Research interests include contemporary poetry and poetics, the short story, and working class literature.
Claire Lauer
Claire Lauer teaches courses in visual communication, multimedia composing, and technical communication as an assistant professor in the Multimedia Writing and Technical Communication program at Arizona State University – Polytechnic. She is a certified Webmaster and has taught workshops in Web design and writing for the Web.
Anne Schutte
Anne Schutte is Clinical Assistant Professor and coordinator for visual art at ASU at the Polytechnic campus where she teaches undergraduate students in drawing and computer art. She has exhibited in solo juried and group exhibitions at museums throughout the US and was the recipient of a grant from The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts. Exhibitions include “New Acquisitions Permanent Collection” Yergeau-Musee International d'Art,Montreal, Quebec, Canada and “Five Selected Artists” School of Visual Arts, Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pennsylvania.
Student Editors
Alisha Allston
Alisha Allston studies English Literature at ASU. She interned as Poetry Editor for Superstition Review for issue two. This semester she is continuing with the magazine as the Reading Series Editor.
Amber Mosure
Amber Mosure is an an english literature major who recently switched from creative writing to literature. She likes to write as much as she likes to read. She has lived in two places: Phoenix and Denver. She wrote a book two years ago, Sibylline, feels the need to edit and revise it a lot more before she would even submit the manuscript. Amber really digs dadaist, existentialist, and post-modernist writing more than anything else and is really into anything vintage, especially art nouveau. She is especially fond of the 1920s era and the turn-of-the-century. Amber considers herself a little eccentric and is also working on an almost-finished screenplay with a friend.
Asonta Benetti
Nonfiction Editor Asonta Benetti is a junior studying English Literature with hopes of a career in screenwriting or scriptwriting. She feels that she has grown immensely in the nonfiction field and credits the magazine as one of the best literary experiences of her life. Her interview with Samuel Pickering was a personally inspiring highlight of Issue 2.
Danielle Kuffler
Danielle Kuffler is a junior studying English literature at the Barrett Honors College of ASU. She cares deeply about being involved in the arts in Phoenix and elsewhere. She hopes to someday pursue a career in the realm of art and literature. Through her internship with Superstition Review, she has enjoyed making connections with amazing artists from all over the world.
Elizabeth Anderson
Elizabeth Anderson is a third year Creative Writing major, hoping to minor in Art History at ASU West Campus. She is a transfer student from Northern Arizona University, and is happy to be back in the heat! This summer, she plans to study Shakespeare at the University of Cambridge in London to become a better-rounded student. Upon finishing her degree, Liz hopes to stand out and be accepted into the medical program at Northwestern.
Eric Hawkins
Eric Hawkins is a senior majoring in Creative Writing. His primary focus is on poetry, but he also writes stage plays and screenplays. For the past two years, Eric has served as a section editor and contributing writer for ASU Honors College-based publication The Barrett Chronicle.  
Grace Unmacht Poetry Editor Grace Unmacht is a senior at ASU Main majoring in both Psychology and Creative Writing. She has been writing poetry since she learned how to write, and was the Poetry Editor of her high school's literary magazine. She has lived in Arizona her whole life. Grace is excited to be a part of Superstition Review.
Haley Larson
Haley Larson is a Creative Writing major, as well as a full-time staff member at ASU. She previously studied at Kingston University in London and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where she earned her first Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Music. She hopes to pursue her MFA in poetry soon, and ultimately, teach and work overseas with travel programs for writers and artists. She is delighted to join Superstition Review this semester and read heaps of poetry.
Rebekah Richgels is a third year Creative Writing major at ASU. This is her second semester with Superstition Review as a fiction editor. She enjoys all the opportunities this magazine has given her to get connected to the literary world and hopes that this internship will help her realize her eventual goal of working at a publishing company. Her notable accomplishments include conducting interviews with both Steve Almond and Tayari Jones.
Sarah Dillard
Sarah Dillard is a senior in the Literature, Writing, and Film program at Arizona State University. She is excited for the opportunity to intern with Superstition Review and is looking forward to gaining an insight in magazine publishing. She hopes her work as a fiction editor will give her the necessary skills to publish her own fiction one day. Upon graduation, she would like to earn her teaching certificate or work in publishing.
Timothy Allen
Timothy Allen is a Junior at ASU majoring in both Literature Writing & Film as well as Multimedia Writing & Technical Communication. He is a published novelist with years of experience in professional writing and website design. With a diverse skillset under his belt already, he is not sure what he wants to be when he grows up, he only knows that his dream is to one day see his name in the credits as a writer for a major Disney movie.
Veronica Martinez
Veronica Martinez is a junior at Arizona State University currently pursuing a major in Creative Writing and a minor in Justice Studies. Through this internship she hopes to gain knowledge about the online publishing industry and hopes to apply this knowledge to future literary opportunities.
