About Superstition Review

Founding Editor:
	Patricia Colleen Murphy teaches poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction at Arizona State University at the Polytechnic campus. Her writing has appeared in many literary journals, including The Iowa Review, Quarterly West, and American Poetry Review. She has received awards from the Associated Writing Programs and the Academy of American Poets, Glimmer Train Press, The GSU Review, and The Southern California Review.
Facutly Advisors:
	After a ten-year career in marketing with Xerox and Apple Computer, Steve Beatty returned to college and earned an MFA and PhD from Arizona State University. He has published short stories and film reviews. He teaches film courses at ASU's Polytechnic Campus and is currently working on a screenplay (isn't everyone) and a non-fiction book about one of his passions--basketball.
	Elizabyth Hiscox holds an MFA in creative writing from ASU and is an Assistant Poetry Editor for the online journal 42 Opus, as well as an advisor for Superstition Review. She was 2007 Poet-in-Residence at St. Chad's College of Durham University, England; and prior to a return to the Piper Center for Creative Writing in July of 2008, she instructed composition, literature, and creative writing at ASU's Polytechnic Campus. Her work has most recently appeared in Gulf Coast, Foundation, and The Journal of Modern Literature, and is currently featured as part of the Seventh Avenue Streetscape in central Phoenix. Her chapbook Inventory from a One-Hour Room is forthcoming from Finishing Line Press.
	Douglas S. Jones earned his M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Arizona State University, where he was the 2005-06 Theresa A. Wilhoit Fellow. He has worked as part of Poesía del Sol at Mayo Clinic, and in 2007 served as Poet-in-Residence at St. Chad’s College at the University of Durham, England. He currently teaches creative writing, composition, and literature courses at Arizona State University’s Polytechnic Campus. His poetry has appeared in Clackamas Literary Review, Cake Train, Blackbird, and others.
	Kristin LaCroix lives in Florence, Arizona and teaches creative writing at Arizona State University at the Polytechnic campus. She is the recipient of the 2001 Katherine C. Turner Award in Poetry from the Academy of American Poets. Her community outreach projects include working with Alzheimer’s patients through poetry, and teaching in the Tempe Community Writers’ Project. She worked as an Education Specialist on the Fort McDowell Yavapai Reservation where she taught creative writing workshops and led the community children in producing a literary journal of their poems, stories, and artwork.
	Claire Lauer teaches courses in visual communication, multimedia composing, and technical communication as an assistant professor in the Multimedia Writing and Technical Communication program at Arizona State University – Polytechnic. She is a certified Webmaster and has taught workshops in Web design and writing for the Web.
	Anne Schutte is Clinical Assistant Professor and coordinator for visual art at ASU at the Polytechnic campus where she teaches undergraduate students in drawing and computer art. She has exhibited in solo juried and group exhibitions at museums throughout the US and was the recipient of a grant from The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts. Exhibitions include “New Acquisitions Permanent Collection” Yergeau-Musee International d'Art,Montreal, Quebec, Canada and “Five Selected Artists” School of Visual Arts, Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pennsylvania.
Student Editors:
	Art Editor Grace Unmacht is a senior at ASU Main majoring in both Psychology and Creative Writing. She has been writing poetry since she learned how to write, and was the Poetry Editor of her high school's literary magazine. She has lived in Arizona her whole life. Grace is excited to be a part of Superstition Review.
	Fiction Editor Sara Scoville is an Interdisciplinary Studies major, studying Business and Creative Writing at Arizona State University. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, she moved to Seattle, Washington to work as a Corporate Trainer, and then transferred to Phoenix in 1997 to pursue her degree. As Alumni of the Student Public Policy Forum through Maricopa Community Colleges, she has lobbied for improvements in education at the Federal level. Her notable accomplishments with SR include interviews with Stuart Dybek and Daniel Orozco, and creating our Cafe Press shop. She will continue working with SR next semester as the Contest Coordinator.
	Fiction Editor Rebekah Richgels is a Creative Writing major in her third year at ASU. This was her first job with a literary magazine and she enjoyed working with everyone on the staff to produce a high quality second issue. She hopes this internship will help her realize her eventual goal of working in a publishing house. Her notable accomplishments include interviews with Steve Almond and Tayari Jones. She will continue to be a fiction editor next semester for Superstition Review.
	Nonfiction Editor Asonta Benetti is a junior studying English Literature with hopes of a career in screenwriting or scriptwriting . She feels that she has grown immensely in the nonfiction field and credits the magazine as one of the best literary experiences of her life. Her interview with Samuel Pickering was a personally inspiring highlight of Issue 2.
	Poetry Editor Alex Linden is a senior Poetry major at Arizona State University. She hopes to attend graduate school for Creative Writing and someday write and teach.
	Poetry Editor Alisha Allston is an English Literature senior studying poetry and creative nonfiction at Arizona State University. She loved reading all the poetry that came in, as well as corresponding with the authors. She is most proud of her interview with Dara Wier, and had fun Emceeing the last reading of the semester. Alisha looks forward to continuing with Superstition Review next semester as the Reading Series Coordinator.
	Web Design Editor Connie Hackathorn is a junior in the Multimedia Writing and Technical Communication program at the Polytechnic campus of Arizona State University. Her ultimate educational goal is to study for a Masters in Educational Technology. This is her first semester interning for the Superstition Review. Connie works full time at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She enjoys all kinds of music, writing and making pottery on her potter’s wheel.
	Web Design Editor Angela Saenz is currently pursuing a major in Creative Writing and a minor in German. She plans to use what she learns as an editor for the Superstition Review to get further insight into being published as a novelist and writer of short fiction.
	Reading Series Editor Sarah Snyder is a senior in the Literature, Writing, and Film program at the Polytechnic campus of Arizona State University. She has been interning for the Superstition Review since January of 2008, and found her calling within the magazine to be organizing the Readings that are held three times per semester. In her free time she volunteers for various animal shelters, tutors in the writing center, ballroom dances competitively, and is pursuing both the German and Spanish languages.
	Submission Coordinator Eric Hawkins is a senior majoring in Creative Writing. His primary focus is on poetry, but he also writes stage plays and screenplays. For the past two years, Eric has served as a section editor and contributing writer for ASU Honors College-based publication The Barrett Chronicle.
	Advertising Coordinator Katherine Koreski is an English major at ASU with emphasis in Creative Writing Poetry. She is a senior, and is anxious about entering the real world. She is very thankful to be a part of this wonderful experience interning with the Superstition Review.
	Development Coordinator Carter Nacke is a junior at Arizona State studying journalism. He has never worked for a literary magazine before, but is very excited to have the opportunity. Through this internship, he hopes to earn an inside knowledge of the publishing business, and would like to use this knowledge in his future career with travel literature.
	Interview Coordinator David Gunn is a junior studying English at Arizona State University.
	Solicitation Coordinator Danielle Kuffler is a junior studying English Literature with hopes of a career in publishing. As the solicitations coordinator, Danielle organized the process of sending solicitation emails to writers and artists while keeping track of responses received by the editors.She was also involved in writing a manual for future interns of the Superstition Review.
