New Officer Elections

Are you interested in serving on the GBPhi at ASU Leadership team? At our New Members Induction Ceremony on Sunday, April 29, starting at 4:00 p.m. in MU room 207, we will be holding elections for the following positions to serve during the 2007-2008 school year:

President
Vice-President & Publicity Chair
Secretary
Treasurer
Community Service Chair
Fundraising & Social Chair
Induction Chair

Keep in mind that you can run for more than one position until you are elected. We will go in order of the positions listed above, so if you do not get elected President, feel free to run for as many of the other positions you would like. After our new leadership team is selected, we will be scheduling a time for our transitional meeting, where our current leadership team will train the new team on their specific roles.

More than half of our leadership team is graduating at the end of this semester, so be sure to consider stepping up on your membership with GBPhi by becoming a leadership team member. You will gain a lot of valuable experience in organizational planning and it's a lot of fun too! I have really enjoyed working with the current leadership team and getting to know them as friends.

If you have any questions about any of the roles, please contact the current leadership team:

President - Andrea Balderrama - GBPHonorSociety@aol.com
Vice President & Publicity Chair - Meg Hunt - Margaret.Hunt@asu.edu
Secretary - Maria Reiss - mcreiss685@hotmail.com
Treasurer - Casey Jones - caseyj5441@aol.com
Community Service Chair - Sharon Smith - contactsharonsmith@yahoo.com
Fundraising & Social Chair - Laura Kennedy - laura.kennedy8@gmail.com
Induction Chair - Julie Mikelson - julie.mikelson@asu.edu

Hope to see you at Induction!

Meeting Changes

Meetings are going to work a little differently this semester. Gone are the days of gathering for a meeting at which the primary focus is for the Leadership Team to make announcements that we could have told you on Blackboard or through e-mail. Instead, we are going to have more socials, fundraisers and community service projects, of which you will need to attend at least two in order to fulfill your meeting points requirement.

A full meeting/event schedule will be available on Blackboard soon.

National Scholarships

The National Executive Committee (NEC) voted to award seven (7) scholarships, each in the amount of $700.00. Everyone is very excited about this scholarship opportunity for the members of the Gamma Beta Phi Society. There will be two additional scholarships awarded, one by the Alumni (amount to be determined), and a $1,000 scholarship awarded by the Society.

The scholarship application form is located on the website http://www.gammabetaphi.org. From the homepage, click on manuals/forms link located at the top of the page. Then, click on applications & forms link located on the left-hand side of the page. There you will find the scholarship application form.
