“WHAT A DIFFERENCE A FRIEND MAKES”

Share your personal story about the difference a friend has made in dealing with a mental health issue.

Entries may be:
Essay/poetry
Musical composition
Photography
Visual Arts
Film/Video Production

Criteria
Must be an ASU student
All entries must include the Personal Information Cover Sheet below   
Written submissions should be typed, double-spaced and no longer than 1000 words
Musical or film must be under 5 minutes in length

All entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. April 7, 2007 at Wellness and Health Promotion in Campus Health room 195 or emailed to wellness@asu.edu with “contest” in the subject line.

Judging criteria:

  • Quality of artistic rendition
  • Meaningful portrayal of personal experience.
  • Emphasis on helping or being helped by a friend.
  • Relevant to ASU college students.
  • Portrayal of positive messages about friendship and mental illness.
  • Include lessons learned about the importance of supporting those with mental and emotional health issues.

 
Prize will be $150 added to winner’s Sun Card.

This essay contest is sponsored by ASU Campus Care Depression and Suicide Prevention, a program of the ASU Living Well Network comprised of Wellness and Health Promotion, Counseling and Consultation, Campus Recreation, and Campus Health.  The mission of the LWN is to help students lead healthy lives and reach their academic and personal goals.
