Karen S. Moses, M.S., R.D., C.H.E.S.

Director
Karen has directed the delivery of wellness and health promotion services at ASU since 1989. She has developed a dynamic program that educates students and advocates for changes in the environment to improve the health, wellness and safety of ASU students. She has designed and implemented programs addressing many issues relevant to ASU students, including nutrition, stress management, high risk drinking, and sexual assault prevention. Karen brings experience as a Registered Dietitian and Certified Health Education Specialist. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Dietetics at Arizona State University.

Karen actively seeks to improve the health of college students in Arizona and nationally through leadership in state and national associations. She currently serves as Co-Chair of the Health in Higher Education Knowledge Community for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators , and as Regional Director for AZ-NM-UT in the national Network to Address Collegiate Alcohol, Other Drug and Violence Prevention. She is a Fellow of the American College Health Association (ACHA), and has held positions in ACHA as Member-at-Large on the Board of Directors, Chair of the Health Promotion Section, and Co-Chair of the Healthy Campus 2010 Task Force. She is a Past-President of the Arizona Dietetic Association.

Freddy Roman, M.P.H.E.

Assistant Director
Freddy has worked at ASU since 1993 and with Wellness and Health Promotion since 1996, where she coordinates the Sexual Health Promotion Program. Before coming to ASU, she worked in the field of Community Health and Medical Anthropology on various grant-funded projects based at the Hispanic Health Council in Hartford, Connecticut, Johns Hopkins University, Rotary International Foundation, the University of New Mexico and the University of California in Hayward. She is the advisor to the AIDS HOPE Student Organization and a mentor to the Maroon and Gold Scholarship Program. She received her B.S. in Social Work and M.S. in Public Health Education at the University of Puerto Rico.

David M. Bower, M.Ed.

Health Educator, Senior
David has worked at Wellness and Health Promotion since 1996, where he is the coordinator of the Alcohol and Other Drug Prevention Education Program. He serves as the chair of the WHP Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drug Prevention Committee, and is member of the Arizona Institutes of Higher Education Substance Abuse Prevention Consortium, and of the Healthy Arizona 2010 Substance Abuse Team. He received his B.S. in Secondary Education and his M.Ed. in Health Education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Joana R. Pabedinskas, Ph.D., CSCS

Health Educator, Senior
Joana has worked at ASU since 1997 and with Wellness and Health Promotion since 2005. She coordinates Healthy Eating and Physical Activity programming, and Stress Management. She also coordinates research and evaluation for the department. Before joining Wellness and Health Promotion, she worked with Campus Recreation where she most recently served as Fitness and Wellness Coordinator. Joana was on the ASU Varsity Women’s Basketball team while completing her undergraduate degree. She received her B.S. and M.S. in Exercise Science (concentration Exercise & Wellness) and her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction, Exercise & Wellness, all at Arizona State University.

Dena Hester, M.Ed.

Program Coordinator
Dena has worked at ASU since 2000, and at Wellness and Health Promotion since 2003. She is the program coordinator of the Sexual Assault Prevention Program and the Home Safe Anti-Violence Program. Previously, she worked for ASU Residential Life. She received her B.S. from Northern Arizona University, and her M.Ed. from Arizona State University.

Lynda Seefeldt, M.S.

Health Educator
Lynda has worked at ASU since 1998 and with Wellness and Health Promotion since 2003. She coordinates the Body Image and Eating Disorder Program and the Live Well @ ASU Online Wellness Program.  Previously, she worked for Campus Recreation as the Wellness and Group Fitness Coordinator.  She received her B.S. in Fitness Management and her M.S. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Delaware.

Raymond Wang, B.A.

Program Coordinator
Raymond earned a B.A. in Psychology and Computing and Information Systems from Northwestern University in 2002. He began his work in sexual violence prevention at CASA - Center for Prevention of Abuse and Violence teaching healthy relationship programs to junior high and high school students in the Phoenix area. In 2007, he joined the Wellness and Health Promotion team as a program coordinator for the Sexual Assault Prevention Program.

Marielle W. Rasmussen, C.H.E.S

Health Educator Assistant
Marielle began working at Wellness and Health Promotion as an intern in 2005. She now coordinates the Campus Care Suicide Prevention Program. She received her B.S. in Health Science from Brigham Young University.

Brynn Hvidston

Health Educator
Brynn began her work in the wellness and health field at the University of Wyoming as an Americorps member for the Alcohol Wellness, Alternatives, Research and Education Program (AWARE), where she helped utilize best practices in providing drug and alcohol education and prevention programming for the University of Wyoming campus and community. In 2007, Brynn graduated with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and Spanish from the University of Wyoming and joined the ASU Wellness and Health Promotion Team as a Health Educator in the area of Alcohol and Other Drugs Prevention.

Lauryn Vosburgh, B.A.

Program Coordinator
Lauryn began her work in Wellness and Health Promotion as a student employee in 2003 and joined the professional staff in 2005. She coordinates Communications and Student Involvement. She received her B.A. in Women’s Studies from ASU.

Monica Montalvo

Administrative Associate
Monica has worked at ASU since 1990. She joined the Wellness and Health Promotion staff in 2004 after working in the lab at Campus Health Services. She coordinates the office support and reception services of Wellness and Health Promotion.
