State Press Magazine: January 27, 2000

Main Story:
macy gray the up-and-coming pop singer talks to spm assistant editor dan marek about her music, her roots and her impending stardom

Opinion Cafe:
spm editor may be going through a minor identity crisis. or perhaps she just likes taking her life into her own hands while searching for art that isn't there. (you just have to read it to understand.)

CD Reviews:
there are a few good new albums coming out this week, a complilation, some rap, and as pop as you can get. what more can you ask for?

Motion Pictures:
spm talks to shirley henderson. one of the starts from last year's trainspotting is all topsy turvy these days.

Motion Pictures:
play it to the bone may fall flat as a commanding sports flick, but as far as road trip movies go, it ranks right up there with thelma and louise.

Random Art:
ever wonder where some of the crazy sculptures on campus came from? were they just born there?

Tubetime:
forget 90210. there's a whole new batch of angst-filled teenagers out there and new hour-long programming to cater to them. but how accurate are these portrayals anyway? can't get much more unrealistic than some of the stuff we grew up on.

¿qué pasa?:
it's thursday and the weekend's coming up. here's your guide to figuring out just what's worth doing around this town for the next couple of weeks.

Next Week:
*scream3 -- it's baaaaak. and we've got jennie mc carthy and a few of our favorite cheezy horror flicks for your reading pleasure.

* upright citizens brigade -- get the lowdown on the comedy central hit

* other cool, fun and otherwise spiffy stuff you'll expect from the state press magazine.
