ASU police reported the following incidents Wednesday, January 26, 2000:

*A small brush fire erupted on the north side of the tennis courts by the Student Recreation Center on Friday shortly before 1 a.m. By the time officers discovered the blaze, nobody was nearby.

*An 18-year-old woman reported that her ex-boyfriend harassed her at her dorm room in Mariposa Hall.

*An 18-year-old female student reported over $8,000 in jewelry and tupper ware stolen from her dorm room in Manzanita Hall over the break.

Tempe police reported the following incidents Wednesday, January 26, 2000:

*Norwest Bank at 64 East Broadway Road was robbed Tuesday shortly before 1 p.m. by a man brandishing a silver semi-automatic pistol. While demanding money from a teller, the man raised his shirt to expose a gun tucked into his pants. He fled the scene on foot and possibly caught a ride from an awaiting vehicle on Benita Way. The police described the suspect as a 25-year-old African American male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, 170 pounds, slender build, mustache, goatee with side burns.

*Another victim of an ATM scam reported to police Tuesday that $700 was fraudulently removed from a bank account. A Tempe man discovered the missing funds while checking his account balance after reading an article about ATM fraud. The scam went down on Saturday, Jan. 14, at an ATM at 1820 East Warner Road. The man reported that a 30-year-old white or Hispanic male with short, wavy, dark hair and stocky build approached him at the teller machine. The suspect was driving a primer gray 1970s Camaro.

*Police arrested a 48-year-old Tempe woman at the 500 block of South Hardy Drive on charges of assault after an investigation revealed she punched her daughter in the back of the head and hit her with a rake handle. The Cambodian woman who did not speak English was transported and booked into Tempe City Jail.

*A 26-year-old man struck a Tempe resident in the back and stole his motorized skateboard on the corner of Broadway Road and McClintock Drive Tuesday.

*Police arrested a mother and daughter at the 500 block of South Hardy Drive on charges of assault after they punched and kicked one another in front of an officer. Both women were transported and booked into Tempe City Jail.
