CCAMPIS Child Care Subsidy:

The CCAMPIS Child Care Subsidy is a federally funded program, targeting ASU student parents who are Pell grant recipients. It subsidizes child care costs at five (5) ASU affiliated child care centers to increase access to higher education and support student parent's in obtaining a bachelor's degree.

The final year, of this four year grant. began on October 1, 2012 and ends on September 30, 2013. $244,000 is allocated for the Subsidy. Funding is targeted for use during the Fall and Spring semesters. Summer subsidy is dependent upon available monies and enrollment in school.

  • Student must be a Pell Grant recipient. This demonstrates financial need for this subsidy.
  • Student must be U.S. citizens and permanent residents. If you are neither a citizen, nor eligible non-citizen, you are not eligible for this federally funded subsidy program.
  • Student must utilize child care services because they are single or have a spouse/domestic partner who is either a student, employed/looking for employment outside the home (for a minimum of 30 hours per week) or disabled. You may be asked to document your spouse/partner's student status, employment, or disability.

  • How does the CCAMPIS Child Care Subsidy work?

The Subsidy works on a sliding scale.  The scales are 35, 50, 75 and 85 percent.

In a typical scenario, a student who gets Pell, has an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of 0, and an annual income of $20,000 or less, would be subsidized at 85 percent of their actual child care costs.

There is always a co-pay, so in this scenario, the parent would pay their child care center 15 percent of their child care fee; the Subsidy pays the center 85 percent.  The student does not receive any funds directly.

Once a student is awarded, they typically continue to receive the subsidy until one of two things happen first:  they graduate from ASU ….which is the primary goal of the subsidy….. or their child goes to Kindergarten.

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff should contact Human Resources at 480-965-2701 for information about the Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA). One account option offers reimbursement for certain dependent care expenses incurred while you are at work. In addition, it is always a good idea to ask your child care provider for information on any child care discounts that they offer.
