Are freshmen required to live on-campus?
Freshmen are expected to live on campus; however, we recognize that housing is currently limited. Availability will be on a first come first serve basis. Living on campus acquaints you with new people from diverse backgrounds pursuing a variety of academic interests. Many of our residents acknowledge they made their best friends while living in the residence halls. Also, living on campus provides an environment for academic success as well as allowing students to develop leadership skills through the various residence hall organizations. It is also very convenient to live on campus where you are in close proximity to the library, faculty, classrooms, and computer labs.
Are halls single-sex or co-ed?
All residence halls are co-educational. Men and women live in separate units. There is no family housing.

Yes, mutual roommate requests are granted when each person submits a roommate request in writing, when space is available, and when requests are mutual.
If I don't request a specific roommate, how is my roommate assigned?
Roommate assignments are based on your answers to the questions on the roommate matching form regarding your preferences and habits. We also try to place people together who are the same age or class level.
What can I expect to find in a fully furnished unit?
A couch, chair, end table, coffee table, TV stand, desk, desk chair, dresser, and bed (full-size bed in the 4-bedroom unit, twin-size bed in the 2-bedroom unit) are provided.
What should I bring to my new room?
Students in Las Casas have discovered that it is a good idea to call or e-mail their future roommates when planning their move. It helps to discuss who is bringing what to avoid duplication. If you need a starting place, please review our "what to bring" list.
