Guest Host

Guest Hosts are experienced, involved ASU students who live throughout the residence halls during the summer. They maintain safety and security in the halls as well as assist summer conference groups during their stay. Guest Hosts also facilitate check-in and check-out for conference guests. A Guest Host is confident, enthusiastic, friendly and dedicated to making a guest’s visit to ASU enjoyable.

What do the Guest Hosts do?

  • Build a community where guests feel comfortable and welcome.
  • Process check-in and check-out paperwork.
  • Process check-in and check-out paperwork.
  • Inspect rooms and community areas regularly.
  • Initiate and track work requests.
  • Inventory control.
  • Setup guest rooms.
  • Light cleaning.
  • Address policy violations and crisis intervention.
  • Provide tours of assigned residence halls/room during ASU Orientation visits at designated times.
  • Night/weekend community walks.
  • Weekly desk shifts (Actual hours are subject to change).
  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Serve as a welcoming presence as well as resource for a diverse group of guests.

What are the requirements?

  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 at time of application and while holding the position.
  • Be a current/returning student of Arizona State University.
  • Not exceed more than 10 hours per week of outside activities including but not limited to: classes, internships, practicum, clubs, or part-time jobs
  • Be in good standing with Residential Life, Arizona State University and Student Life
  • Must live in assigned residence hall for the entirety of employment.

  • Grow professionally and socially in their interaction with guests and staff.
  • Develop leadership and communication skills.
  • Are compensated a single room (may have to share bath with suite/floor mates), cable, Internet, and utilities in their assigned residence hall.
  • Work approximately 15-25 hours a week, and receive a pay rate of $7.25 an hour.

Recruitment Process:

Interested applicants need to complete a Guest & Conference Housing application packet. Applicants should fully review and complete application to be considered. Recruitment will run until sufficient applications have been received.

Selection Process

The interview process will take place at various intervals until all positions are filled. Applicants may or may not be contacted for an individual interview. Candidates will be notified of their selection status following the interview process.
