- ASU Arboretum
-
Worried about inconvenient truths? Help offset your CO2 emissions and have fun at the same time by volunteering at ASU Arboretum. Put sustainability concepts into practical use by participating in campus harvesting, composting and planting. Learn how to use an ASU “Devil’s Edge” weed remover made from recycled materials and find out how to care for and maintain the flowers, herbs, shrubs and trees on campus from certified arborists and master gardeners. The Arboretum offers many types of seasonal programs and special projects to choose from for the individual, student organizations and service groups.
- ASU Grounds Services/Arboretum is a leader in green initiatives; we compost an average of 12 tons of green waste per month, fertilize with fish emulsion and organic teas and use rakes & brooms instead of hand held blowers. We welcome everyone to join our team. For more information contact Deborah Thirkhill (480) 268-4165

- ASU Art Museum
-
Are you interested in broadening your knowledge of art and art history? Do you want to develop valuable communication and public speaking skills? Do you enjoy interacting with faculty, the public, and children? If so, you should look into becoming a student docent!
Student docents lead tours for museum visitors of all ages, interpret the permanent and special exhibitions, gain an inside view of a lively art museum, and get to meet local artists and scholars. To become a student docent, you do not need a background in art! All you need is an interest in working with the community (especially children). Student docents train for approximately twelve weeks on Tuesday evenings or Friday mornings. Students interested in the program only need at least 1-2 hours a week to spare and a desire to communicate your enthusiasm for and knowledge of art to others.
If you are interested, contact Laura
Stewart at 480-965-ARTS
(2787).
- ASU Clean and Beautiful
-
If you would like to help keep our campus looking beautiful and clean, then volunteering with ASU Clean & Beautiful is for you. No previous experience is required. As a matter of fact, you can begin today by increasing your awareness of the environment around you and taking the time to help pitch in. When you see a flyer or newspaper on the ground, pick it up and throw it away. And, make sure you don't leave food or drink containers in the classrooms. If each and every one of us took the time to do this type of "micro-volunteering," we would all enjoy a litter free environment.
If you or your organization is interested in ASU Clean
and Beautiful programs such as Adopt-A-Mall, Campus Clean-Up
Day, or if you simply want to volunteer some time, please
contact Pat Chase at 480-965-1850.
