HistoryThe Asian LEAD Academy was
established in 1994 to address the needs
expressed to Arizona State University by members
of the Asian American community. The primary
concern was that Asian American students were not
receiving the instruction and support necessary
to develop leadership skills. A task force was
created to address this issue and to define the
criteria that are used to select participants. As
a result, the Asian LEAD Academy was designed to
provide academic support and leadership skills
training through enrichment activities for
students of Asian heritage. Leadership skills
will be improved and strengthened through the use
of public speaking, debate, mock trial, career
planning, and other hands-on activities and field
trips. Students will also become familiar with
Asian American and Pacific Islander cultures,
history, and current issues through research and
presentations. Applications must be RECEIVED BY Monday, May 12, 2008.Apply now! Space is limited. Preference given to graduating high school seniors/incoming ASU freshmen. How to apply:
