A Dessert Reception will take place prior to the ceremony beginning at 5:30 p.m.

  • Doors will open to guests at 5:30p.m. Tickets are required for admission. Tickets are FREE and must be picked up at the Multicultural Student Center (3rd floor of the Student Services Building) by May 2, 2008.
  • Graduates are asked to gather at 5:30 pm backstage to prepare for the formal processional that will begin at 6:30 pm. The entry to the backstage area is located on the East side of the building facing Gammage Parkway down the service ramp.
  • Graduates must wear an official ASU cap and gown during the convocation ceremony. Caps and gowns are available at the ASU Bookstore.
  • Free parking will be available at ASU's Gammage Auditorium, located at the corner of Apache Avenue and Mill Avenue. Disabled parking is available in this lot as well.
  • A professional photographer will be onsite to document this special event for graduates and their families. The photographs will be available for purchase.

A note to faculty members:

Thank you for your interest in celebrating the accomplishments of the spring Class of 2008. Faculty and Staff members are invited to lead the formal processional that will open the 2008 Black and African Convocation. Please plan to arrive at 6:00pm with your regalia. We will gather backstage to prepare for the formal processional that will begin at 6:30 pm. The backstage entrance is located on the East side of the building facing Gammage Parkway. You will use the service ramp to enter the backstage area. Faculty and staff members will be seated on the stage.

Orders are being taken now at the ASU Bookstore for purchases OR rentals of regalia for Faculty and Staff.
