Highlights

Writing tutors at Learning Support Services have scheduled hours in Palo Verde West, Student Services room 394, and Hassayampa (Mesquite Hall). Working with a writing tutor is free and is a great way to strengthen your writing.
Scheduling a writing conference gives you a chance to talk about your writing at any stage of the writing process—from the brainstorming phase to drafting to revision.  Tutors are trained to dialogue with you to find out about your questions and your goals for writing.  They offer you feedback about your writing strengths as well as areas that might need to be further developed.

  • discussing what an assignment is asking you to do,
  • finding a topic to write about,
  • brainstorming ideas for an outline of your paper,
  • discussing ways to evaluate or integrate research material,
  • getting feedback on how to develop and support an argument,
  • getting advice about grammar,
  • organization, sentence style, and much more.
How to sign up for a writing session
  • Go to the schedule, search for your course, click on “Go,” and fill out your name and e-mail address. Click on “Enroll.” When you see the confirmation, you have signed up for that session.

Canceling tutoring appointments
Please call us at 480.965.6254 or at 480.965.7728 or e-mail LSS@asu.edu if you have to miss a scheduled session or need to cancel your weekly appointment. Students who miss 3 sessions without canceling in advance will be dropped from their scheduled tutoring times.
