About ASU | About Phoenix | About C&C | Clinical Staff | Diversity Statement | Directions and Lodging Training ProgramsClinical Practicum Training ProgramThe practicum is a 9-month, advanced training experience for ASU students enrolled in the Master of Counseling, Master of Social Work, or Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology graduate programs. Practicum counselors receive training primarily in focused individual counseling and group counseling. Practicum counselors also participate in agency outreach to the university, and a number of professional development activities including seminar training, case conferences, and professional presentations to C&C staff.
Wellness Psychology PracticumThe wellness psychology practicum is a 1-year long, 10 hour/week training experience for advanced students enrolled in the ASU Clinical or Counseling Psychology programs. This practicum emphasizes the provision of wellness psychology activities to the ASU community, including focused workshops, outreach and consultation. This is a specialty practicum designed to provide professional experience for students who anticipate a career focus in wellness psychology in a university or similar setting. Individual clinical work is not an emphasis of this practicum and thus this is not an appropriate setting for students seeking a primarily clinical experience.Predoctoral Psychology Internship ProgramIntern Brochure( PDF or Word ) The American Psychological Association (APA) accredited predoctoral internship prepares trainees to become psychologists competent to practice in a university counseling center or a similar outpatient mental health setting. The internship provides generalist training, with emphasis in the provision of outpatient individual and group therapy, clinical assessment, crisis response, consultation, psychoeducational outreach programming, and supervision of counselors in training. The internship is a 2000-hour, twelve-month training experience. There are three positions each year.
Postdoctoral Psychology Residency Training ProgramThe postdoctoral residency training program is designed to provide advanced training for professionals seeking leadership roles in university counseling center settings. While consolidating general clinical skills, residents receive training and engage in professional activities related to a focus area related to their career interests. Focus areas include: counseling center administration, training, residential life consultation, and wellness psychology. The twelve-month, 2000-hour program meets the post doctoral supervised experience requirements for licensure in Arizona.
Psychiatric Resident TrainingIn collaboration with Maricopa County Integrated Health System (MIHS) Counseling & Consultation andASU offer training to advanced psychiatric residents in the MIHS Psychiatric Residency Program. Training focus areas are brief psychotherapy and provision of psychiatric services in a university counseling center setting. Residenets are clinically supervised by both C&C psychiatric and counseling staff.
