Acceptance letters

This type generally follows an offer extended over the telephone or letter sent that details terms of employment:

  • Informs employer of your acceptance.
  • Clarifies and/or confirms salary, start date and pre- and post-employment conditions.
  • Reinforces employer’s hiring decision.

Non-acceptance letters

This letter is used to formally decline an offer:

  • Do not burn your bridges here, you may be interested in the organization in the future.
  • Creates a thoughtful, professional thank you for the offer.
  • Follows a telephone call expressing appreciation.
