  1. The current ASU general studies must be redefined to align with the principles of the New American University.
  2. The faculty in each program/department/college are responsible to assure that their students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attributes expected in graduates of the New American University, ASU.
  3. The administration and staff at ASU are responsible for providing the setting, facilities, and services (and other appropriate resources) that foster a learning environment appropriate for the New American University.
  4. The university culture and reward structure must support the development and implementation of the new general studies philosophy and content.
  5. General studies must start early in the students’ education and continue throughout their undergraduate studies at the university.
  6. Assessment must be an integral part of general studies at ASU.
