Hip- Hop: beyond beats and rhymes
Two week hip-hop campaign/ Eleven different events
February 11th - 22nd
The Intergroup Relations Center, in conjunction with Multicultural Student Services and Wellness and Health Promotion are sponsoring a groundbreaking and engaging two-week campaign with eleven events focused around the social impact of current hip hop lyrics and culture.
By bringing these events to the ASU community we hope to:
- -Facilitate understanding within the ASU community about the evolution of hip hop from its underground creation to today’s mainstream incarnation.
- -Engage participants in thinking critically about important issues in current hip hop culture.
- -Raise awareness about the impact of mainstream hip hop on the greater society.
- -Promote public discourse about social issues in hip hop (i.e.Degradation of women, homophobia, violence, masculinity, etc).
- -Celebrate the evolution and art of hip hop.
