The Personnel Committee
addresses policy and procedure matters dealing with faculty governance,
hiring, affirmative action, academic freedom, grievance, tenure,
promotion, sabbatical and other leaves of absence, faculty and
academic professional development, insurance, retirement, and
other faculty and academic professional perquisites.

Policy Committee
The SFPC serves a policy-forming and advisory capacity in matters
governing student conduct, organizations, admissions, registration,
grading, retention, graduation requirements, academic integrity,
scheduling, advisement and counseling, undergraduate education,
and all other student-faculty academic concerns.

University
Policy & Procedures Committee
University Policy & Procedures Committee serves in an advisory capacity in the study,
clarification,and formulation of policies and procedures in areas
affecting the university, including public relation initiatives
at the legislature and legislative coffees, campus master planning,
design review, policy review for special use of facilities on
campus, allocation of university resources, university-wide information
and communication services, parking, physical plant, athletic
programs, library, computer services, auxiliary services, utilities,
and other university facilities.

on Committees
The Committee on Committees recruits and nominates faculty and
academic professionals for election or appointment to senate committees,
university committees, and faculty-student committees. It does
this in part through the Academic Preference Surveys circulated
to faculty and academic professionals.

Curriculum
and Academic Program Committee
CAPC deals with the establishment, modification, and disestablishment
of curricula and academic programs. This includes academic units
at all levels, laboratories, centers and institutes, as well as
research programs, extended education, and honorary degrees. Recommendations
of the Committee typically come before the Senate, which makes
recommendations to the University president and the Arizona Board
of Regents.

Committee
on Academic Freedom and Tenure (CAFT)
The
committee reports to the senate developments in the areas of academic
freedom and tenure. It investigates alleged infringements
upon the academic freedom or tenure of faculty members and reports
to the senate. It hears cases and makes recommendations
to the president involving faculty complaints of discrimination;
procedural regularity in connection with a decision to deny tenure,
promotion, or renewal of a contract; and denial of academic freedom.

Governance
Grievance Committee (GGC)
The
committee hears complaints alleging unfair treatment because of
absence or misinterpretation, misapplication, or violation of
policies or procedures. Annually, it reports its summary
recommendations about policy and procedures to the Senate president
and the university president.
