General Studies Course Evaluation

All students enrolled in an ASU baccalaureate degree program must successfully complete a minimum of 35 semester hours of approved General Studies courses. ASU General Studies Requirements help ensure a broad education and develops general intellectual skills needed for lifelong learning.

As some degrees require specific courses for General Studies credit, you will want to identify your desired major as early in your studies as possible. You should declare your intended major at a point no later than the semester prior to the completion of general education (i.e., after roughly 30 units of coursework.)

Transfer Courses that meet General Studies Requirements include:

1) Courses completed in an AGEC certified by an Arizona public community college. What is AGEC?

2) Individual courses taken from Arizona public institutions that have been approved for ASU General Studies designations based on the semester and year the courses were taken. Search for General Studies Transfer Courses

3 ) Courses from institutions outside of Arizona evaluated by an ASU advisor using the criteria for ASU General Studies.
Although transfer credits are not evaluated in advance of an offer of admission, you may nat to review the guidelines and criteria used by advisors to make a determination. The only way to know for certain how you courses will transfer is receive an offer of admission from ASU and have you courses evaluated by an ASU advisor.
