Why should I participate the Piper Online Book Club?
The club is perfect for working adults and people with busy lifestyles who may find it difficult to attend regular book club meetings. Your level of participation is completely up to you. Because the book club is online, you can participate at 11 am or 11 pm—whatever suits you best. You can also read at your own pace.
What kinds of books will you choose for future selections?
We're committed to providing our members with a rotating selection of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.
How do you decide which book is selected?
We will generally select books by upcoming Piper Center for Creative Writing guests to coincide with a visit or residency. Our goal is to provide Piper Online Book Club members an opportunity to meet authors or to hear them read as often as possible.
Where can I purchase the current selection?
Piper Online Book Club selections are available at the ASU Bookstore on the Tempe Campus. Members will receive a 20% discount when purchasing selections through the ASU Bookstore. Orders can also be placed by calling the ASU Bookstore at 480-965-3191. Shipping options are available; please have your credit card information ready.
How does an online book club work? The Piper Online Book Club made the switch from a listserv to a blog in the Fall of 2009. A moderator will post initial discussion questions, and then ask for a response. Responses will be posted upon approval. Because the list will be moderated there will be no advertising or spam. Discussion will take place during a designated period of time. Click here to visit the blog.
