India

The languages spoken in India number in the hundreds, one estimate totaling 415; almost 30 are spoken by over a million people, while over a hundred are spoken by at least ten-thousand. While English is a major language, and many Indian writers work in English, there are many more that must be translated, and even more that are not. India’s is a complex and diverse literary tradition. In 2007, ASU sent six students on three different trips to India, and looks ahead to further programs in the future.
