Upcoming Workshops
Because fifty percent of children are entering school without the skills necessary to learn, and we know that parental involvement is related to student success in school, we have developed a program aimed to help children get ready for school. This program is known as Leaps and Bounds: A Kindergarten Readiness Program for families with children preparing to enter Kindergarten – Ages 3 to 5.
“The World as a Classroom Workshop Series” is for children between the ages of 3 to 5 years of age and their families. This includes mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles, and anyone you can think of! This program offers a series of family-friendly, hands-on workshops that help teach parents how to be more involved in their child's education by engaging in a variety of fun and interactive activities.
The program is offered over a one-month time period, with one workshop per week for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes each week . The workshops are held in the evenings during the week and are located at school and community sites throughout the Phoenix, metropoitan area. Parents are encouraged to bring young children to the workshops to eliminate any need for childcare.
Each workshop series serves up to 15 families. Although the program is targeted to families that attend each school or community site, families from all over the valley are welcome to attend. The workshops are first-come, first-serve and seats fill up fast — so hurry and sign up. It is the school site’s responsibility to recruit families for the workshop series.
After you have completed the workshop series, you will be asking, “How can I learn more activities to engage in with my children at home?
