Internship and Volunteer Opportunities
Teaching Facilitators and Assistants (bilingual Spanish/English preferred)
Undergraduate and Graduate students facilitate the “World as a Classroom” workshops at all school sites during each school year. The teaching facilitators and assistants will be responsible for delivering the workshop series in the community. Each Workshop Series requires one teaching facilitator and four teaching assistants. Students have the option of participating as a volunteer or for credit (students can opt to receive credit for participation by completing an internship in the College of Education). The objective of this experience is to provide students with hands-on, real world experience working with children.
The teaching facilitators and assistants are responsible for demonstrating the activities to the families and then providing them with one-on-one interaction to ensure they are gaining knowledge of the skills children need to enter kindergarten prepared. Students will follow the previously developed lesson plans and will receive extensive training that will enable them to administer the program effectively. Training involves hands-on training and mock workshops. Each student will receive individual training as necessary. They will also receive a copy of all activity cards and a Facilitator Manual that provides them with background information on the program.
