Maryann Bozzette
Associate Professor
Dr. Bozzette received her Ph.D. in nursing science from the University of Washington. Prior to coming to ASU, she taught at the University of Illinois, Chicago, where she chaired the research committee in the College of Nursing and was involved in service at both the local and national levels. While at UIC, she received a grant from the Center for Reducing Risks in Vulnerable Populations to conduct a pilot study to test an intervention with premature infants. Previously she was on the faculty at Duke University where she received a Mentored Research Award from the National Institute of Nursing Research for the study, Development of Communication in Preterm Infants. This fall, Dr. Bozzette began teaching in the neonatal specialty tracts in the College of Nursing and is continuing her research with high risk infants.
Maureen Campesino
Assistant Professor
Dr. Campesino earned a Ph.D. in nursing research from the University of Arizona, a master’s degree in psychiatric nursing and nurse practitioner from ASU, and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Rutgers University. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the Center for Frontier Medicine Biofield Science funded through the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, National Institutes of Health. Dr. Campesino’s research on cultural aspects of bereavement and spirituality among Latinos has been presented at national and international conferences. Her other research interests include the role of race and culture in health disparities and critical approaches to cultural competency in healthcare.
Colleen Keller
Professor
Dr. Keller earned a Ph.D. from the University of New Mexico and joins the faculty from the Health Science Center at the University of Texas, San Antonio, where she served as department chair and co-director of the National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health. She also held appointments in the Department of Family Practice and the Department of Surgery. She is a fellow in the American Heart Association and holds ANCC certification as a family nurse practitioner, practicing with Planned Parenthood and University Physicians Group Gerontology practice. Her research focused on physical activity as a strategy for weight management in women, using a social support, cultural competence model. She received funding from NIH/NINR, NIH/OWH, DHHS/HRSA, and Hartford and Hogg Foundations.
Mary Z. Mays
Associate Professor
Dr. Mays received her doctorate from the University of Oklahoma in experimental psychology, with specializations in learning/memory and research design/statistics. She joins the ASU College of Nursing from the University of Arizona College of Medicine. She has broad experience in basic and applied behavioral, nursing, and biomedical research both as an investigator and as a biostatistician. Dr. Mays has served as a consultant to the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Medicine’s Food and Nutrition Board and as a member of study sections for the National Institutes of Health. She has publications in press in Medical Teacher, Health and Place, Journal of Immigrant Health, Journal of Adolescent Health, and Annals of Family Medicine.
Kathie Records
Associate Professor
Dr. Records received her doctorate in clinical nursing research from the University of Arizona where she completed a predoctoral award in instrumentation. Prior to coming to ASU, she was an associate professor at the Washington State University College of Nursing, an appointment she held for 15 years. Included in her publications are articles on abuse screening in childbearing women and the effects of abuse on childbearing outcomes for mothers and neonates. Her current work, funded by the National Institutes of Health, compares health outcomes for abused and non-abused childbearing women over time. She serves on the research advisory panel to the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nursing and was recently appointed to a second term on the research committee of Sigma Theta Tau International. She is a reviewer for prestigious journals such as Nursing Research, Western Journal of Nursing Research, Journal of Nursing Scholarship, and the Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing.
Anna L. Schwartz
Professor and Scottsdale Health Care Nursing Research Chair, College of Nursing
Dr. Schwartz joins the faculty from the University of Washington, where she was an associate research professor. She earned her M.S. in health education at Florida State University and a M.S. in community health nursing at ASU. She earned her doctorate from the University of Utah. Previously, Dr. Schwartz served on the faculties of the Oregon Health Sciences University and the University of Utah. A fellow of the American Academy of Nursing since 2002, Dr. Schwartz currently serves as a consultant to several national organizations and has received awards from the Oncology Nursing Society and the American Cancer Society. Her book, Cancer Fitness: Exercise Programs for Patients and Survivors received recognition for translating research into useful lay terminology.
