Christopher Callahan
Founding Dean and Professor, Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication
Mr. Callahan is the founding dean of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He comes to ASU from the University of Maryland at College Park, where he served as associate dean of the Philip Merrill College of Journalism. At Maryland, he was director of the advanced public affairs reporting program in Washington and Annapolis, the university’s television station and the school’s graduate program. He also served as senior editor of American Journalism Review and wrote regularly about journalism ethics, investigative reporting, diversity issues in the news and the Internet. Mr. Callahan is the author of The Journalist’s Guide to the Internet and Diversity in the Washington Press Corps. He earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and was a Washington correspondent for The Associated Press before entering journalism education.

Xu Wu
Assistant Professor, Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication
Dr. Wu joined the Cronkite School in August 2005 as an assistant professor in strategic media and public relations. He received both his doctoral degree (2005) and master’s degree (2002) from the University of Florida, with specializations in political communication and international public relations. Prior to his graduate study, Dr. Wu worked in China for eight years as a national correspondent at China’s Xinhua (New China) News Agency in Beijing and as a media specialist in the private sector. Dr. Wu’s research interests center on international public relations, China’s online media, political communication, and mass communication theories. His work has been published by the Journal of Communication, Public Relations Quarterly, Asian Journal of Communication, Media Asia , and Perspectives (online journal).
