A team of five photojournalism students from ASU's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication traveled to the Borderlands to produce a photo essay on the region's children. The photos featured on this site were taken by ASU student Jeremiah Armenta. The project was funded by The Howard G. Buffett Foundation.

Arizona State University will host journalists from across the country for a seven-day fellowship opportunity. The highly competitive program provides an opportunity for reporters to tap into cutting-edge ideas and gain new perspectives away from the daily pressures of the newsroom. ASU's program offers journalists the chance to study immigration issues at the heart of the national debate. Fellows will participate in study sessions with experts on such topics as the history of U.S. immigration, impact on the economy and border security. They will also travel to the U.S. - Mexico border to participate in a unique multi-city experience to engage with various groups whose experiences tell part of the story behind the immigration debate. The fellowship is competitive, and includes all room and board expenses during the program.
