THE BUFFETT PROJECT: CHILDREN OF THE BORDERLANDS

A team of five photojournalism students from ASU's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication traveled to the Borderlands to produce a photo essay on the region's children. The photos featured on this site were taken by ASU student Jeremiah Armenta. The project was funded by The Howard G. Buffett Foundation.

How to Apply

Arizona State University is accepting applications for its Media Fellowship
Program on Immigration: The Southwest Border. You must have a valid
passport, as our travels will take us into Mexico.

Program Date: Feb. 5-13, 2008
Application Deadline: Application materials must be postmarked by Friday, Dec. 21, 2007

There is no application form. To apply, please send:

  1. A letter explaining why you are interested in attending the program
  2. Your resume
  3. Two professional references, including a letter of support from your
    supervisor
  4. Three samples of your work. If you currently cover border/immigration
    issues, please include those pieces. For broadcast journalists, please
    submit work samples on CD, DVD, VHS tape or audio tape. We can also accept
    electronic .pdf and .ram files.

Applications must be postmarked by Friday, Dec. 21, 2007. Fellows will be
notified of their selection by Dec. 28, 2007. You can apply by mail, e-mail
