What is an ANSI approved standard?

ANSI has served as national coordinator of voluntary standards activities and as approval organization and clearinghouse for consensus standards since 1918. ANSI does not write standards, but approves and publishes standards developed and written by various engineering, industrial and professional groups.

ASU began an annual subscription with ANSI in 1959, keeping the most current edition of a standard. Beginning in 1982, Noble Reference has kept all editions of a standard.
