Initiative Area III. Collections
Goal A: Maximize the Value of the Libraries' Collections
To Guarantee the Most Responsible Selection of Materials and Patterns of Expenditure that will Maximize the Value of the Libraries' Collections to our Customers.
Goal B: Storage
Guarantee the best selection and an orderly transfer of library materials to the Libraries' storage facility that will maximize shelving and retrieval capacities of materials most used and housed on the main campus.
Goal C: Promote and foster communication
Promote and foster communication between the ASU libraries, departments and centers, and, in particular, educate faculty and librarians about the current issues and challenges facing scholarly communication at research universities.
Goal D: Preservation
The UL 2000 collections component included a goal to develop an Emergency Recovery Plan
(formerly called a disaster plan) for the libraries with the long-term outcome of producing
a Preservation, or Collections Plan. To assist the Preservation Department in this effort,
the Disaster and Recovery Group was appointed.
