This work describes in detail the contents of each volume and contains a number of indexes: persons, places and regions as well as archival sources of the documents. There is also a detailed list of contents in Raymond Foulche-Delbosc, Manuel de l’hispanisant, vol. 2, pp. 113-179 (Z 2681 .A1 F7 Stacks).
SCOPE AND CONTENTS: Consists of archival and manuscript materials (chronicles, diplomatic correspondence, biographies, Inquisitional proceedings) for the study of Spain and her possessions for the 15th through the 17th centuries (including many sources on Spanish America). The collection is not only indispensable to the study of Spanish history from the union of Castille and Aragon in 1493 to the last of the Spanish Hapsburgs, but also contains important materials for research in German, Austrian, French, English and Portuguese history. Topics include biographies of important persons such as Bartolome de Las Casas, information on the silk weavers of Toledo, a description of the Viceroyalty of Naples, the Council of Trent and the conquests of Mexico and Peru. Some of the microfiche for the first volume appear to be missing. Have most of the set in hard copy, DP 3 C69 Stacks.

Included are royal decrees, ordinances and regulations of local character, petitions to the king, records of inquiries and royal answers to petitions. Valuable for the study of history, law, politics, Indian relations and the Church.

SCOPE AND CONTENTS: All areas of knowledge are included, e.g., indexes of prohibited books, the works of Bartolome de las Casas on the colonization of America, Encina’s Cancionero and other works invaluable for study of the Renaissance and the discovery of the New World. Documents are written in either old Spanish, Castilian, Latin or dialects such as Catalonian or Aragonese. The majority are briefs, i.e., forensic writings related to disputes on inheritance, titles of nobility, taxes, church privilege etc. Includes items on the Inquisition.
