C. These reports provide a comprehensive summary of a country’s fiscal situation. Includes over 2,500 reports from 126 countries. Most are from the mid-1980’s. These reports are apparently not cataloged separately; the only way to access them is to go directly to the fiche, which are arranged by region (generally continent) and then by country. 250. INTERNATIONAL POPULATION CENSUS PUBLICATIONS. This work lists census publications from all countries. It indicates which ones were published on microfiche by Research Publications and provides a source for obtaining all those not filmed. SCOPE AND CONTENTS: Published abstracts and general discussion of population counts and demographc trends based on statistics tabulated by age, sex, occupation, literacy and other categories relative to the character and cultural composition of population. Most of these reports also include tables reflecting immigration, rural-urban ratios and other data pertinent to population movement. The collection includes a wide selection of countries in Western Europe, Central Europe and Latin America. Dates for each country vary, but generally cover 1940s to the 1960s. Lists plans by continent and country. Worldwide coverage. SCOPE AND CONTENTS: A collection of development plans from various third world countries. The plans, which were submitted by a variety of organizations an agencies, contain detailed information on agriculture, industries, economics, cultural and many other areas. Most date from the 1950’s on, although those for the Soviet Union cover the 1930’s. The fiche in the cabinet cover the following countries: Brazil, Burma, El Salvador, Honduras, Indonesia, Iran, Mozambique, Pakistan, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Uruguay and the USSR. Other fiche are in boxes in the microform storage room. They appear to be arranged in the order in which they were produced, so that material for a particular country may be scattered. The catalog noted above does provide a number for each country, which may be helpful in locating the material, but use of this collection (other than the basic set in the cabinet) is likely to be time-consuming). 254. POTSDAM CONFERENCE DOCUMENTS, 1945. CALL NUMBER: University of Arizona Microfilm 2638 NUMBER OF REELS/FICHE: 2 R INDEX OR GUIDE: Microfilm Guide 2638 SCOPE AND CONTENTS: This final wartime conference brought together President Harry Truman, Prime Minister Winston Churchill, Premier Joseph Stalin, Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek and other allied leaders. Their purpose was to bring the war to an early conclusion and to formulate a program for global order. The bulk of the collection consists of Background and territorial studies prepared for President Truman but its principal contribution to primary research is found in the minutes of meetings and memoranda files generated during the course of the conference. These deal with such topics as the statement calling for Japan’s unconditional surrender, the trial of war criminals and decentralization of German industrial cartels. During the conference, the atom bomb was successfully tested and a tentative decision to use it was made. SUBJECTS: Potsdam Conference; World War II; 1940s

A Guide to the Microfilm Edition. Contains an introduction and an index to the pamphlets by author only. A copy of the guide is also on the film as the Index Reel. SCOPE AND CONTENTS: Contains 8,672 pamphlets and leaflets from the collection of the Tamiment Institute, New York University. Originally collected by the Rand School for Social Science, the pamphlets cover a wide range of topics including social movements, communism, socialism, radicalism, anti-semitism, labor unions, civil rights, McCarthyism, role of women, Sacco-Vanzetti case, Scottsboro case, Father Coughlin. Many of the pamphlets were issued by the Socialist Labor Party, the Socialist Party, league for Industrial Democracy, anarchist groups, Trotskyists, labor organizations and the Communist Party. Students of political science, political philosophy, the labor movement, sociology, women’s studies and socialist theory will find this collection an invaluable primary source for the study of radical thought. Representative authors are: Earl Browder, Fidel Castro, Eugene V. Debs, William Z. Foster, Emma Goldman, Morris Hillquit, N. S. Kruschchev, Kim Il Sung, V. I. Lenin, Scott Nearing, Upton Sinclair, J. Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Norman Thomas and Leon Trotsky. Most of the material is in English but small portions are in German, French, Italian, Russian, Spanish, Chinese and Yiddish. Also includes English editions of primary works on Socialism and Marxism and viewpoints of the Russian and Chinese Communist Parties. The collection is arranged by author.
