Film Review Index     PN 1995.F5134x  Reviews on film produced from 1882 to 1986 in two volumes. Organized by film title, director, year produced and country of origin. Important source of reviews for early material. Compiled by Patricia King Hanson and Stephen L. Hanson. Published in by Oryx, 1986-1987.  Located on Index Table 3 in Hayden Reference.

The New York Times Film Reviews    PN 1995 .N4x Photographic reprints of reviews published from 1913 to the present in the paper that prints "All the news that's fit to print". A biennial publication since 1969/70.  Presently published by Times Books and Garland Publishing Inc. of New York. Located on Index Table 3 in Hayden Reference.

Variety Film Reviews PN 1993 .V36, v. 1 - 16  Photographic reprints of reviews published from 1907 - 1980.  Variety is the Film Industry's "bible".  Volume 16 includes a title index to the films which includes the date of the review. The review date is useful in finding reviews in other sources. Located on Index Table 3 in Hayden Reference.

Academic Search Elite (EBSCOhost)(1990+) Covers a wide range of academic subjects. Features full text for selected journals, abstracts and indexing for over 3,100 scholarly journals, and coverage of The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and The Christian Science Monitor

America: History and Life. Santa Barbara, CA: ABC-CLIO, 1954-. This is the essential abstract index for literature on American history. It contains abstracts from American and foreign journals on all aspects of U.S. and Canadian history from the prehistoric period to the present.

Film Indexes Online (1893+) provides access to the catalogs of the American Film Institute (AFI Catalog) and the British Film Institute (Film Index International). Film Index International indexes films released from 1900 to the present and includes information on over 115,000 films and over 57,000 personalities. The AFI Catalog provides a detailed view of American feature films produced during the last century. Full production and cast information is provided, as well as plot summaries and notes. The AFI Catalog covers over 46,000 films from 1893-58 and from 1961-70, as well as listings of the top ten films from 2000 to 2003.

The Internet Movie Database  Internet megasource for movie information. World-wide in scope, IMDb now covers over 150,000 movies from the earliest period of cinema photography to the present including movies in production. Around two million filmographic entries address all aspects of the genre including: plot summaries, production information, cast, movie ratings, release dates, running times, awards, lists of critics commentaries and references to print reviews, quotes, trivia, goofs and much, much more. A sophisticated searching screen allows the user to search by word, title, cast or character name. Copious cross indexing of entries make it very convenient to follow various avenues of information.

New York Times Historical Index:   ProQuest Historical Newspapers: The New York Times 1851-1999 is an electronic database to articles published in The New York Times from 1851-1999.
