Middle English Compendium: (1100-1500) Includes 3 major Middle English electronic resources: an electronic version of the Middle English Dictionary, a HyperBibliography of Middle English prose and verse, and electronic resources, including Middle English texts.
MLA Bibliography: (1963+) Indexes articles in the subjects of literature, language, linguistics, and folklore from journals, books, proceedings, dissertations, etc.
**No Full Text in this database, but there are some “Full-Text” links, and possible access to full text in other online resources via the yellow “Get it @ ASU” button.
Literature Online (LION): (600+) Includes fully-searchable texts, reference works, bibliographies, catalogues, & links to relevant websites. Includes American Poetry; English Bible; Shakespeare; English Drama & Poetry; Biographical Encyclopedia; Encyclopedia; Dictionary, etc.
International Medieval Bibliography Online: (1967+) Index to journal articles and miscellaneous publications (conference proceedings, essay collections) on the Middle Ages published worldwide starting in 1967. Includes citations on over 300,000 articles on the Middle Ages in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
Iter: Gateway to the Middle Ages and Renaissance: A newly incorporated, non-profit research project to increase access to all published materials pertaining to the Renaissance (1300-1700) and, eventually, to the Middle Ages (400-1500), by creating online bibliographies.
Project Muse: (1990+) Provides worldwide, networked, subscription access to the full text of nearly 250 quality journal titles from 40 scholarly publishers in the fields of literature and criticism, history, the visual and performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science, gender studies, economics, and many others.
Humanities Full Text: (2/1984+) Indexes articles in the fields of archaeology and classical studies, film, folklore, gender studies, history, journalism, communications, language, literature, literary and political criticism, performing arts, philosophy, religion, etc.
Essay and General Literature: (1985+) Cites essays & articles contained in collections of essays and miscellaneous works. Focuses on humanities & social sciences, including history, economics, psychology, religion, political science, folklore, film, music, drama, literature, etc.
Periodicals Archive Online: (1770-1995) full text archive of hundreds of periodicals in the humanities and social sciences from their first issues to 1995.
Periodicals Index Online: (1700-1995) an electronic index to the contents of thousands of periodicals in the humanities and social sciences from their first issues to 1995. Every article is indexed.
Historical Abstracts: (1954+) Covers the world's scholarly literature in history. Includes article abstracts, bibliographic citations of books, and dissertations on the history of the world from 1450 to the present, except for the United States and Canada.

1) Keyword searches:

2) Subject Heading searches:
1) For use in the library catalog, subject heading searches are conducted using specific vocabulary/terms from Library of Congress Subject Headings. For particular headings it’s often easiest to start with a keyword search and then click on interesting subject headings that you’ll find at the bottom of individual records.
Example: Chaucer Geoffrey
(127 results for this heading alone, but the result list will also show you 18 pages of links to 211 other subject headings related to Chaucer)
2) You can also use these subject headings to search for books and other items not held at ASU Libraries in the database mentioned below, OCLC FirstSearch WorldCat. You can then request any materials you find that ASU does not have from ILL (InterLibrary Loan). It will take about 6 days – 2 weeks to receive a book.
