German Language Resources in Greater Phoenix Area Some subjects of interest listed by professor John Alexander, Arizona State University,  are  Phoenix companies in Germany, local German restaurants, and German tutors and translators in the Phoenix area. This site is currently under costruction but additonal subjects are planned.

LEO English-German Dictionary  Includes over 170,000 entries.

Langenscheidt's New College German Dictionary   Contains around 220,000 words and phrases used in modern English  and German.

Middle High German Conceptual DataBase  Claims to be the largest electronic text archive of medieval German literature (appr. 130 texts, 1 million text lines and 8 million individual words).

Electronic  Resources at ASU Libraries

Deutsche Nationalbibliographie, compiled by Die Deutsche Bibliothek has arrived in the Library. It is a cd-rom product and will soon be installed. Location to be announced.

MLA Bibliography (1963+)  Restricted to ASU faculty, staff and students. Can be accessed only from ASU computers or via an ASU PPP account.


Electronic Text Collections

The German Collection at the University of Virginia  Contains collection of online German-language texts.  Some texts are restricted to University of Virginia users only.

The Kassandra project: Visionary German Women around 1800
A series of web pages linking to German women writers, artists, and thinkers during the second half of the eighteenth century through the first decades of the nineteenth.

Project Wittenberg  "Home to works by and about Martin Luther and other Lutherans," this website was conceived to be the "first step towards an international electronic library of Lutheranism." Includes hymns, theological treatises, commentaries, etc, in German and in translation where available.
