Learn the language, learn the land

Arizona State University offers a combination package of study and travel in China. The first 6 weeks is an INTENSIVE LANGUAGE PROGRAM IN BEIJING, and the second three weeks is an adventurous and educational Excursion. Participants will arrive in China on May 26, 2007, study in Beijing until July 6, start the journey to the southwestern region of China, and return to the US via Hong Kong on July 25, 2007. Students may earn 8 to 11 credits upon completion of this program.

ASU Summer Intensive Language and Cultural Program in China inaugurated in 1988, is one of the most effective and thorough credit-granting programs in China administered by one of the U.S. largest universities. In addition to intensive Mandarin Chinese studying and culture learning, this program also features an overview of China's art, music, drama, cuisine, history, architecture, cultural differences, foreign influences, society and economy.

 

Part I - Intensive Chinese Program at Renmin University (May 25-July 5)

 

Participants will spend the first 6 weeks at Renmin University, BEIJING, taking Intensive program of Chinese at various levels. A typical school day contains classes from 8:00 to 11:30 and various activities for the afternoon, such as calligraphy, tutoring session, a field trip to Beijing's attraction, watching Peking Opera, etc, . Renmin Universityis located in the Haidian district, northeast side of Beijing, close to other universities like Bejing University and Qinghua University. Part II - Journey to Shangri-la - Tibet & Li River (July 6-July 25)

First, we will visit Xi'an, the site of the Qin terra cotta soldiers tombs. From the ancient capital of Han and Tang dynasties, we will travel to the magnificently beautiful and precipitously elegant and natural Tibet and legendary Shangri-la. After adventures in the other national minority and exotic region of the Li River and Kunming City, we will fly to Hong Kong, the Pearl of the Orient for a 4 day visit before returning home.
