ASU Novell/Netware
Training and Certification

 Certification Requirements

 In accordance with policies established by ASU’s University Network Connected Equipment Liaisons (UNCEL), any individual responsible for installing, configuring and/or managing a Novell Netware network at ASU must have a minimum amount of training in the products supported. In addition to this Network Operating System specific training, administrators must complete the ASU UNCEL Network Infrastructure Certification Course as well.

Administrators must complete at a minimum the Novell System Administration and Advanced System Administration courses for Netware 3.x or 4.x. These classes can either be taken at a Novell Authorized Education Center, by CBT, or by video. Some suggested sources are as follows:

Local Novell Authorized Education Centers (NAEC):

  • Training Solutions
  • Midek
  • MicroProfessionals

 CBT Courses:

  • COMPAS – Novell Netware 4.1 Administration; study guide for CNE’s; 2 CD’s available for check-out;
  • Other CBT’s available; prices range from $200-2000 based on number of modules purchased, etc.

 Video:

  • ASU Data Communications: "Managing A Netware 3.x Server Certification Path"; 5 tapes covering Concepts, Installation, Configuration, Daily Management and Troubleshooting; workbooks also available for check-out

 Any individual who has previously completed this level of training or who has a C.N.A. (Certified Netware Administrator) or higher level of certification from Novell is considered to have met the UNCEL requirements for operating system specific certification.

 In addition to these training and certification requirements, Netware administrators are also required to follow specific installation and security guidelines for Novell networks at ASU.
