What is the recommended notice period when I resign or retire?
Employees are expected to give as much advance notice as possible and a minimum of two weeks is recommended.
Is a verbal resignation acceptable?
No. Employees are responsible for providing a written notification of their intent to resign or retire.
Can I withdraw my resignation?
Yes. Resignations can be withdrawn by written notficiation the third working day after the resignation is tendered. If a withdrawal is not submitted during this period, the resignation is final unless the supervisor and the employee agree that the resignation can be withdrawn.
What happens to my medical benefits after I resign?
All regular employees may request information about insurance conversion rights (COBRA).
What happens to my retirement account?
All employees who are contributing to a retirement account can request information about retirement contributions options.
Do I get my sick and vacation leave balance when I resign or retire?
SPP 702-01 (Vacation Leave) and SPP 701-01 (Sick Leave) will explain the university policy regarding sick and vacation leave balances.
What happens to my vacation if I resign during a probationary period?
Compensation for accrued vacation is paid as a part of the two-week notice period.
When will I receive my final paycheck?
Employees who resign will be paid applicable wages no later than the regular payday for the pay period during which the termination occurred.
