SPP 302: Conditions of Administrative Service

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the notification requirement for non-renewal?
Per SPP 302: Conditions of Administrative Service, administrative employees will be given no less than a 90-day written notification of non-renewal. Notification must be given prior to the end of the current appointment, which is normally June 30.

What happens if the notification is given less than 90 days before the end of the appointment?
Notification of non-renewal can be given to the employee at any point during the current appointment. If it is less than 90 days before the end of the appointment, then the employee will be entitled to continuation of pay for 90 days after the notification.

EXAMPLE: If the employee’s current appointment ends on June 30 and written notification is given on June 1, then the employee would be entitled to continuation of pay until August 30.

What happens if the notification is given after the end of the appointment?
If written notification is provided to the employee after the end of the appointment period, then the employee would be automatically renewed for the next appointment period.

For example, if the employee’s current appointment ends June 30 and written notification is given on July 1, then the employee would be renewed for the next appointment period (July 1-June30).
