Do you have an accurate description of the job?

    1. Assess whether the vacant position's duties and responsibilities are based upon your business processes/direction and organizational structure.
    2. Determine all functions and responsibilities of the position, ask for input from department staff, the past incumbent and management .
    3. Reference the ASU job descriptions for general duties and functions of the position.
    4. Using the ASU job description, prioritize the major job duties and functions of the position.
    5. Begin each description with an action verb (i.e. direct, provide, research, coordinate).

    1. Ensure the duties and responsiblities are reflective of the job classification, title and salary.
    2. Keep the applicant in mind and be clear, concise and descriptive.
