Regular employees are eligible to receive holiday leave with pay as described in SPP 703-01. The policy provides information on:

Who is eligible for Holiday Leave?
All regular employees of the university.

How is Holiday Leave paid?
Holiday pay is based on an eight-hour work day. Any eligible employee who is less than 100 percent FTE receives holiday pay at a pro-rated amount.

The employee must be in pay status both the day before and the day after the holiday.

What holidays does the University observe?
See the university holiday schedule.

Winter break is paid leave when taken as accrued vacation leave. For accurate records, a Request for Leave of Absence Form should be completed.

How are employees on alternative work schedules affected?
If a regular day off falls on a holiday, an employee can schedule an alternative day off with their supervisor. If an employee is scheduled to work on a scheduled holiday, an alternative day off within the same work week should be scheduled.

How should time off for religious holidays be scheduled?
Supervisors should reasonably accommodate all requests for days off for religious holidays. However, it is scheduled according to business needs and the holiday must be taken with accrued vacation time or as time off without pay.
