All employees must become familiar with the established work rules of the university and the department/college in which they work. Inappropriate behavior and/or failure to follow established work rules can result in disciplinary action up to and including employment termination.

Inappropriate behavior may include, but is not limited to:

ABSENCE

A pattern develops based on:
The number of absences or tardiness
Leaving work early without prior approval

APPEARANCE (according to established college/department standards)
Coming to work without department uniform
Wearing inappropriate department dress

CONDUCT (according to job expectations)
Unsatisfactory job performance
Unbecoming conduct
Discourtesy toward others

What are some examples of established work rules?
They may include, but are not limited to, the following:

PROPERTY

Theft of university property
Falsifying university documents

RULES AND REGULATIONS (according to established university and college/department)
Violating safety rules
Falsifying resume or application materials

SUBSTANCE ABUSE
Consuming alcoholic beverages while on the job
Selling or purchasing a controlled substance
