What are the conditions of Administrative Appointments?
When hired into an Administrative Appointment, certain conditions apply to this employment category as stated in the Notice of Appointment.
What is the "Notice of Appointment"?
It is the contract under which an Administrative employee is employed at ASU. The employee accepts the terms and conditions, based on SPP 302 Conditions of Administrative Service, by accepting the Notice of Appointment.
Are contracts renewed at the same time each year?
Yes, contracts are renewed on July 1, at the beginning of each fiscal year.
Is there a notification of non-renewal?
Administrative employees are given written notice of non-renewal at least 90 days before July 1. If the non-renewal is given within the appointment period but is less than 90 days before the end of the appointment, the employee's salary will be continued for 90 days from the date of notification. If notice is not given within the appointment period (contract year), the contract is automatically renewed.
Is there a difference in benefits for an Administrative appointed employee vs. a Classified employee?
Benefits for an Administrative employee are similar, except for vacation accrual and the eligibility to enroll in an Optional Retirement Plan.
What ASU policies are relevant to Administrative appointees?
As noted in the applicability portion of each policy, the Staff Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual is for Classified, Service Professional and Administrative employees of ASU. Policies from various other ASU Policies and Procedures Manuals also are applicable to Administrative appointees.
