Who may be placed on Administrative Leave of Absence with Pay?
Classified, Service Professional and Administrative employees may be placed on Administrative Leave of Absence with Pay when appropriate, according to SPP 704-06.

Who determines when Administrative Leave of Absence with Pay is used?
It is at the discretion of the appropriate dean, director or president in consultation with the director or designee of Human Resources.

Under what circumstances may Administrative Leave of Absence with Pay be used?
It is used only in cases where it is best that the employee not be present in the workplace due to physical, emotional or investigative reasons either directly or indirectly.

EXAMPLES

  • An employee who is suspected of theft may be placed on leave with pay while an investigation is conducted.
  • An employee who has engaged in behavior that is distracting or disruptive to other employees may be placed on leave with pay while a course of action is determined.
  • An employee who has been the recipient of physical or emotional distress by another employee(s) may be placed on leave with pay while a solution is sought.

Is Administrative Leave of Absence with Pay only used in disciplinary circumstances?
Not necessarily. It is used when time is needed to review all of the factors in a situation to determine a course of action.
