Carefully read each the online job announcement. Pay special attention to the Minimum and Desired Qualifications to draw out specific requirements of the job. Reformat your resume to speak to each these competencies, should you have this experience in your work history. How do I get access to PeopleSoft/TAM?
Please review Section #2 of PeopleSoft Procedures step by step guide, located on the Office of Human Resources - Recruitment & Selection website: http://www.asu.edu/hr/partners/staffingservices.html
I followed these procedures to gain access to TAM, and requested “HR HIRING MGR” Access. My supervisor approved it, and my status says approved. Yet I’m only able to “view only.” Why is this happening?
There are several steps to the approval process and likely more approvals are to come. Please allow 24-48 hours for this entire process to be completed. Should you have persistent issues, please contact the Recruiting and Staffing/HR department.
In the job opening details, I want to change the salary listed on the position but it is shaded and I cannot edit?
If you need to change the salary on the position, you must contact your HR Partner / Position Management. Please see the following link of the current HR Partners: http://www.asu.edu/hr/partners/areas_of_responsibility.html
If you just want to advertise a different salary, you can do so on the job posting section.
I am having difficulty reviewing resumes (resumes do not open). What can I do?
Please review Section #4 of PeopleSoft Procedures step by step guide, “Problems Viewing Resumes”, located on the Office of Human Resources - Recruitment & Selection website: http://www.asu.edu/hr/partners/staffingservices.html
The candidate failed to submit the requested materials (cover letter, resume and references). What can I do?
Departments may choose to contact individuals whose applications are incomplete. All applicants with incomplete applications should be given this same opportunity and a new deadline to apply. Please notify the Recruiting and Staffing/HR department if your department wishes to move forward with this option. If candidates fail to send the correct document by the new deadline, then will be disqualified from interviews due to incomplete application.
The candidate is contacting me to apply directly, what should I do?
All applicants must apply online for each position. If applicants continue to experience problems applying through our online website, you can direct them to the online tutorial at http://www.asu.edu/asujobs/asu_applicant_powerpoint.pps or contact the Employee Service Center at 480.965.2701.
If my department doesn’t like the way the Applicant Evaluation Summary is organized, can HR change it?
Unfortunately no, TAM organizes competencies and doesn’t allow HR to change the order of how they are listed on the Applicant Evaluation Form.
Can I extend the close date of my job? If so, then when can I start interviewing applicants?
You can extend the close date of the job, by notifying the Recruitment and Staffing/HR department via email. Candidate interviews should not begin until after the official close date posted in the online job. Please call the Recruiting and Staffing/HR department with questions.
When I changed all my applicants to “Reject” status in PS, why didn’t this information translate to the Applicant Evaluation Form?
These steps are truly two different processes. The Applicant Evaluation Form is a tool used to evaluate applicants Resumes. Once all the resumes have been reviewed, and candidates have been selected for interviews, the rest of the applicants are placed into “reject status.”
I created a job and “saved as draft” but now cannot find it. Where did it go?
The job is most likely still there, don’t worry. Go into PeopleSoft, select “Recruiting,” select “Find Job Openings,” type in the “job number” and use the drop down menu to change the job status from “Open” to Blank, and then select “Search.” The job should appear now.
Is it okay to hire for two positions out of one job number, after the job posting has closed and interviews have been conducted?
Yes, as long as you go through the TAM procedures to gain a second position number from position management, then Please notify the Recruiting and Staffing/HR department so they can add this number to your job.
What is the purpose of putting in “comments” in the Evaluate Interviews section of TAM? Who can see these comments?
The Comments box located in Evaluating Interviews/Creating an Offer sections of TAM, should be filled out for all applicants interviewed/Offered. The comments should specify why the candidate is being declined, interviewed again or offered the job, i.e., “Candidate displayed the strongest communication skills but least relevant work experience to this job.” Comments should, ideally, be based on the Desired Qualifications of the job, should be a specific statement giving more weight to why we make the hiring decisions we do. Only your hiring committee, the Recruiting and Staffing/HR department, and an auditor will view these comments.
