NOTE: These resources will help eliminate inconvenience to the employee and the department as a result of incorrectly recording leave.

Employees are allowed paid leave for the purpose of voting as described in SPP 704-01 Voting Leave. The policy provides information on:

  • use
  • approval

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who is eligible for paid voting leave?
All employees entitled to vote in a primary or general election in Arizona if:

  • the polls open less than three hours before the beginning of the employee's regular work shift
  • the polls close less than three hours after the end of the employee's regular work shift

How does the employee request approval for voting leave?

  • Request leave from the supervisor prior to election day and submit a Request for Leave of Absence Form.
  • Receive approval from the supervisor prior to election day.
