OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR BENEFIT PLAN YEAR 2009-2010
What’s New for 2010
These are the new and enhanced benefits that employees can elect during November ( effective Jan.1, 2010):
- Lower premium rates for Aetna Employee Supplemental Term Life/Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) have been secured. This is an employee-paid benefit.
- Aetna Dependent Life coverage has been added, with four options that offer competitive premium rates. This is an employee-paid benefit.
- The Benny Card, a debit card for the Health Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA), that allows you to pay for eligible health care expenses for you, your spouse and your qualified tax dependents without the hassle of paperwork to complete for reimbursement.
- The Limited Health FSA, a new flexible spending account type, will be offered to participants in the HealthFund Health Savings Account (HSA). It can be used to pay for eligible dental and vision expenses only, and you’ll benefit from the pre-tax payroll deductions.
NOTE: Medical expenses are covered under your HealthFund FSA.
- The FSA claims reimbursement deadline for filing 2010 reimbursement claims has been extended from 90 days following the end of the plan year to 120 days following the end of the plan year. You’ll have until April 30th each year to file your reimbursement claim beginning in 2011.
- 2009 claims must be submitted by March 31, 2010.
- 2010 claims must be submitted by April 30, 2011.
- Long-term care insurance will be offered in early 2010 with a March 1, 2010 effective date. Stay tuned for more information about this plan during ASU’s Financial Education Days in February 2010.
