Doctoral Student and Graduate Teaching Associate
Hugh Downs School of Human Communication

Jen is currently a third year doctoral student in the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication. She earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees in Communication Studies from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. Jen's areas of emphasis are interpersonal communication and quantitative methods, and her current research focuses of unrequited love. Specifically she is studying the differences between, and health outcomes of, unrequited love and unrequited liking. Jen is also a member of a research team in the Hugh Downs School whose focus is studying sexual communication in initial romantic relationships with emphases in differentiating between friends-with-benefits, hookup, and reciprocal love, relationships. Outside of working on her Ph.D., Jen is an avid triathlete and recently finished her first Quarter-Ironman. She also recently adopted a beagle that she named Akabudy.
