A native of Southern California, Justin is a third year doctoral student and the Jeanne Lind Herberger Fellow of Communication in the
Hugh Downs School of Human Communication. Justin earned his Bachelor's degree in Rhetorical Studies as well as his Masters Degree in
Speech Communication from California State University, Long Beach. Prior to coming to ASU, Justin worked in the financial services field
and earned his stockbroker licenses (FINRA Series 6, 7, 63, 65, and 26). Apart from teaching and research, he continues to do
organizational consulting for various companies. Justin currently is conducting research in the area of work/life balance, with his
primary research focus exploring the intersections between families and organizations. His dissertation topic looks at the ways that
communication training can have an impact on physiological and psychological stress related to work/life conflict. His other research
interests include organizational assimilation, training and development, division of household labor, quantitative research methods,
alternative dispute resolution, and leadership. Justin is an avid cyclist and is currently working to earn his private pilot certificate.
He currently cares for two dogs (Mister and Poison) and a snake (Sally).
